Why this exists
Customers should not have to investigate.
Right now, the burden is usually on the customer to figure out whether something is genuinely human-made.
Most people will not. The Human Pledge is being built to make that distinction easier by verifying the work, not just the claim.
For creators, The Human Pledge makes human authorship visible. For customers, it makes human-made work easy to identify and trust.
What human-made means
The tool can assist the maker. It cannot replace the making.

A designer may use AI to brainstorm directions. They cannot generate the finished poster and certify it.
A photographer may use conventional editing tools. They cannot generatively create the subject, background, photograph, or substantive visual content and call the result certified human-made.
An illustrator may explore ideas with AI. They cannot generate an illustration, trace it, and claim the manual tracing makes the work human-made.

How this gets built
Participation can be paid. Approval cannot.
The Human Pledge will need a sustainable model because real verification takes real human labor.
Membership, certification review fees, and future partnerships can fund the work. But payment buys access to the process, not the result.
People may pay to participate. They do not pay to pass.
